Rag rug making is such a rewarding pastime.
Harry used to help his mum make rag rugs when he was young.
Then of course it was just a way of using up old clothes frugally & turning them into useful rugs. These days it's an art & the rugs are very expensive!
Just noticed I think I got a bit of Harry's nose in there on the left, should have cropped it! Too late now as I would have to re write all the chat!
Little Charlie has had another operation today at Alder Hey Childrens hospital in Liverpool.
The only surgeons willing to give him a chance. I pray the outcome is hopeful.
Three good things:
1. No need to go out on this windy wet day.
2. A bit of fight left in our PM today!
3. A celebrity has called her new baby daughter born today Patricia....I might be fashionable yet!
Oh how beautiful. Super way to make something memorabIe and useful. I remember when I was a child making a Readicut Rug. One for my bedroom had a horse on it and was blue and I helped me Mum with a semi circular one that was a sunset. My parents still use that one after more than 45 years.
My Nanna used to make rag rugs using old clothes from the Op Shop. She made one for Mum to put behind the counter in our shop. It made it very cosy underfoot.
You could have cloned Harry's nose out using picmonkey without losing your place! That is, if Harry didn't mind!
Some talented people with lots of patience making this craft popular!
This is a great hobbie, something quite different.
I first saw a demonstration in the old coastal town where I used to live.
I was amazed at the simplicity of the rugs.
They turn out beautiful too.
A great capture.

A lovely pastime during those dull days of Winter. Not for Malta, though, most of the time it is sunny and lovely to go out, so little time to stay inside.
@happypat Now wouldn't that be funny if it were the same one! I just found their website and see they still operate, only the cost seems a little high to me for the more formal designs. So much fun to make though!
Rag rug making is a very traditional Finnish thing too - my grandmother used to make them. When I was in my teens and desperate to wear 60s fashions (the retro fashion of the late 70s), I only managed to get one original dress from my mum as her mum had made them all into rag rugs once she'd grown out/bored of them!
