Dot & I went to see The Favourite yesterday. Back to our old routine of cinema every week with Meerkat half price deal.
We haven’t been since the end of May last year because Dot has been so busy looking after her grandchildren while while Charlie has been so ill. It’s been such a terrible time for them all, I was quite shocked this morning when I saw John on TV this morning it’s certainly taken it’s toll on dad.
Funny I never noticed before how Nicci Charlie’s mum is so like her mum Dot!
Photo taken on the back row at Vue Cinema, we had just eaten our picnic!
Three good things:
1. Light bulbs with less wattage in for our new light in the kitchen. Not quite as glary.
2. My cousin is staying tonight, he’s giving a talk on badgers locally so it’s a good chance to catch up. We will have to keep things neutral as dairy farmers have sometimes mixed views on badgers!!
3. Chicken casserole in the oven.
We were just saying how good it was to be backon that back seat. Surprisingly at that time of the day 10.30am it was quite busy...around ten of us but we were all sitting quite close so had to be quieter than we normally would be....no crisp bag rustling!
Film was ok but weird, I wouldn’t recommend it to be honest, quite rude in parts. Good acting but that’s not everything!
@maggiemae Yes we did but just a hard boiled egg as I’m trying to lose a few pounds so no bread just egg, tomatoes, crisps, which was not good & a yoghurt!
Looks like fun! I have mixed views on badgers too!! They come into our garden here - about the only wildlife we get, being in a town centre, apart from pigeons, magpies and foxes! They dig up the lawn hunting for grubs and it can be really frustrating. Yet they are lovely things to look at and terribly shy, despite their large size.
@casablanca I would hate to see them become extinct but not sure if there is any actual proof they spread TB but when you’ve had to have your beloved cows slaughtered because of a reaction to TB is does make you think twice. We were a closed herd so never ought in stock from others areas but did have reactions a couple of times when we had to have cattle taken away & couldn’t sell anything until clear! They are beautiful creatures though, perhaps vaccination is the solution.
@happypat Fascinating - I hadn't realised you kept stock. It's an odd debate because TB is a possibility with almost any mammal, not just badgers and could just as easily be deer or even dogs or cats. Yet, you really don't want it infecting your herd! Vaccination is an excellent thought. Easy to forget it is still so prevalent in animals. My grandfather died of TB in the early 1960s yet you rarely hear of that being a cause of death in the western world these days.
