I had to google the word for a collection of snails. I could have used the words root or walk but thought they deserved the the longer more serious word of escargatoire,
I moved an old chimney pot we had in the garden & found this rather beautiful collection of sleeping snails.
Three good things:
1. A glorious Easter weekend, fantastic weather.
2. I picked a brilliant book from the library, I'm really enjoying it. Called The Cactus by Sarah Haywood.
3. The house next door is empty!!
Waw ! Pat what a great colony - now all you have to do is to serve them tomorrow as Escarots a la Bourguinonne - cooked with garlic ,butter and herbs ! - do you think Harry would enjoy them !! ( not really advisable as they may have digested pesticides etc !! ) Love the pattern on the shells !
@beryl Ha ha Beryl, Harry would not even eat them if they were cooked by Raymond Blanc! I’m amazed they came out so well as it’s only a iPhone shot taken blind down the chimney pot with a screen I couldn’t see for the sun glare! Thank you.
Oh wow, our blue tongue lizards and kookaburras would have a feast here. We don't get too many snails in our garden, they must be quite a delicacy for the other wildlife that visit
Thank you all, this was only the tip of the iceberg, they were all round the rim & up the sides of this very tall chimney pot. I quite like snails, it’s slugs that give me the creeps!
No cabbages yet Julz @julzmaioro
A surprising escargotière! I would drop them all in a jar of diluted jayes fluid as they may have eggs that will hatch However it may not be your problem!
