Are you going for my supper? by happypat

Are you going for my supper?

Eight of us went out to celebrate a seventieth birthday last night. The local eatery in the village is a very nice place to go, it belongs to The Seafood Pub Company & has an excellent menu, not all fish.
Dogs are welcome as you can see & I think they always looking at the food as it goes past.

Three good things:
1. A bit of light relief to take our minds off our alleged roof problems...surveys are a bitter pill sometimes!
2. About to watch an exciting tennis match between Federer & Nadal...it will be a tough match for both.
3. A full programme at the Lytham Festival from yesterday until Sunday. Kylie Minogue, Rod Stewart, Michael Ball, Stereophonics, Sheridan Smith, Sophie Ellis Bexter, The Human League .... just a small town to snap up so many stars. All outside so hoping the weather keeps fine. Daughter & SIL going to see Kylie tonight with friends.
So good to her you had a lovely evening - I like establishment that allow dogs in - as long as they are well behaved and kept on the floor !!!! Although if we take Alfie with us he usually sits in the car or in hot weather we will sit out in the pub's garden where Alfie is quite contented to sit under the table ! Glad the roof survey was not too damning ! - these surveys can be a pain !

Nice to see they allow dogs. I'm watching the tennis, too, quite a tense match

@beryl The roof survey was horrendous Beryl, we have to get two more estimates as we are shocked at the report of the one the buyers got. Our builder laughed when we told him. Worrying times!

An evening out with friends is just a tonic. Especially when celebrating birthdays.
Roof issues not so good but hopefully soon resolved.

By getting another roof estimate - does that mean you have to fix something? Hope its not too frightening! Your life is still so busy - a great place to live!

Dogs, unless they are service animals, are forbidden all through the U.S. in restaurants. It really startled me to see this handsome fellow.

@maggiemae Yes two more estimates maggie. The roof man was very obnoxious, we didn’t like him at all, he strode all over our roof in his boots & it’s a no no to actually walk on the slated, should have had a cat ladder! I think his estimate was as much as a new roof! It’s an old house, it doesn’t leak so it’s a worry. I think we will have to come to a compromise after other builders have looked. Our builder laugh when we told him the amount! We are going to have to knock off some money I can see it coming! Apparently it’s not unusual!

@allie912 Yes it’s quite usual for most places to ban dogs in restaurants but in the country in some Inns & stone flagged floors it’s not uncommon. This dog was in the bar area so not near the food. I think the Cartford allows dogs too, certainly The Inn at Whitewell does, have to be well behaved though & best under the the table.

An evening out with friends seems to be just what the doctor ordered. Hope the ordeal with the roof doesn't end up being too expensive. Moving house is stressful at the best of times, but you are really being dragged through the mill.

An evening with friends sounds like just the thing to get your mind off the roof. When we were trying to sell a house, the buyers surveyor came up with all kinds of stuff. He even wrote down that a barn had to be torn down, it was on a neighboring property. We could not tell the neighbor to tear his barn down. The neighbor bought his place just 2 years prior and his surveyor did not say the seller had to remove the barn. Anyway, the buyer wanted the price to be cut in half. So we sold it to the next person that came along..

The dog is such fun. Pearl would be following the waiter! What a drag re the roof

@jgpittenger Thanks Jane, up in the night, I woke up & now roof on mind so having a cup of tea! Yes that dog was cute, a spaniel.

@onewing @grannysue Thanks for your sympathy....some weird things on the survey report....they reported damp on walls in the utility but not on front wall where it actually is! That back bit was the old kitchen originally years ago & is only single skin, they didn’t like that but I class that as house improvements not essential,,,I have lived with it for twenty years! We will sell it them as we are now in more of a hurry as probate coming off our new one at end of month, we just have to come to a compromise. Need two estimates for roof ASAP. All a matter of opinion I reckon...how new has the roof to be fir goodness sake! Roof man who came was a prat! Rude too! No wonder I’m up in the night! 😩

We sometimes take Mitzi with us when we eat out...and she has become a very well behaved K9 in such circumstances.
