I called into the grave yard the other day to pick up the trough we use to plant up for mums grave. This Rowan tree was bursting with berries.
Three good things:
1. Apparently there were 353 lightening flashes in one hour during the night. I woke up & saw the flashing but thankfully no thunder in our part of the world. Harvest lightening I think they call it.
2. A hair cut... much cooler!
3. Very entertaining re political scene in the UK today.
Spectacular tree.. alot of tgese trees around Queenstown and Arrowtown.. had to google them when we were down there.. wondering what you all think of your new PM.. we will have to wait and see perhaps..
Theory is lightening makes the grass grow..
So beautiful, Pat. I believe those are what we call service trees or mountain ash trees in this part of the world.
I hope you are satisfied with your new PM.
The US is feeling a renewed partisan divide following Mr. Mueller's testimony to congress today. Both sides are quite adept at spinning things to fit their agenda.
@peggysirk Spinning is the key word in politics Peggy! Nervous hope here that something will be done to break the deadlock somehow. I doubt it myself! I see trouble ahead!
@julzmaioro Sorry should have linked you in to above comment to Peggy....Boris is going mad tonight sacking all the original cabinet & putting in all MPs who voted Leave.....even had a change of Foreign Minister in this time of nervous trouble with Iran.... @taffy Thanks Taffy....Rowan trees seem to like graveyards!
A lovely rowan tree and berries ! Funnily enough I snapped some as I was in the carpark this evening ! they seem to be ripening so early this year ! I hope it is not a sign of a hard winter !! (in more sense than one !! )
Berries seem to come out in Autumn here - must be early for you. We have three huge rowans outside out place and the berries drop all over the lawn and people squelch on them! The rowan is said to prevent haunting in a cemetery!
I think I saw most of the lighning flashes - I didn't get to sleep until after 3.30am! I'd been out all day so maybe the coffee, the heat, the stimulation of being in London? Who knows? The berries look lovely, hope the birds like them!
@busylady It’s a long nigh5bwhen you don’t sleep Judith.....it was so hot.....sometimes I can sleep all night & others I hardly sleep a wink. Harry blames being on my iPad all night, who knows!
@quietpurplehaze I have never said he’s a buffoon Hazel....a clever man that sometimes comes across as bumbling but that’s just his manner. I like his optimism! We shall see how many people vote for him if we have a GE....rather him than the other lot but that’s my opinion, there will be plenty that disagree! I find it fascinating!
@maggiemae it is early fir the Rowan berries maggie, I did think when I saw them it was early. @suesmith Lots of them out up here, they look lovely. Is it a sign of a hard winter to come I wonder?
Lovely berries. Does anyone harvest them or do they leave them for the birds and animals? 353 is a lot of lightening strikes to have in one hour! My granddaughter is in England, really miss that girl.
Pat, sorry, badly put on my part. It was not a direct question, accusation even, to you but more a musing on the fact that people have such different views on the new P.M. I fear everything everything turning out badly................
@quietpurplehaze
Oh no Hazel, I didn’t take it personally, I read it as you meant it....I do realise now that I probably answered as if we were having an ongoing discussion but I sincerely didn’t think you were directing it to me personally! I feel as you do...just want the whole thing sorted but admit I do find it rather fascinating watching the political scene & how it’s changed over the last few years. It’s never good to bring in Politics into discussions, I should learn my lessons! 😂😘

I should have learnt mine first!! The rowan berries are nice - and promising for the birds!
