Our first artificial Christmas tree!
Looking very lovely I admit but it will take me a bit to get used to it!
Thinking how much easier to take down at the end....it’s pre lit so in theory I just need to take off the decorations, unhook the lights & pack away.
We had to raise it up a bit to be seen through the window but hopefully next year it will stand on our new lovely flooring in front of door to ceiling windows within its wicker nest.
Fingers crossed!
We don’t normally have the tree up this early but couldn’t wait to see what it looked like plus it won’t drop it’s needles this year!
Three good things:
1. Our annual Christmas meal with my brothers today, sadly missing my sister who lives a long way off in Norfolk. She was missed!
2. Both brothers & SIL’s brought their dogs with them....there was a bit of growling but no fighting!
3. I wore my lovely new pearl earrings I bought in Raglan.
@maggiemae No dogs in this house now but yes I suppose on the whole we are a doggy family....all my siblings have dogs & we grew up with them yet I’m not a doggy person as such...I like my own when we had them but have no desire for one now. Had so many animals to look after all my life it’s nice to be without!
Very nice. We swapped to an artificial one years ago and although I miss the smell of a fresh tree, I don't miss the clogging up of the hoover with all the needles!
@casablanca That’s Harry’s grumble too.....he’s does a lot of the hoovering & hates the mess. Only grumble I have is that’s its a bit too uniform....I like a bit sticking out here & there!
I tried an artificial tree for two years. It then stayed in the loft for four more before I rehomed it last week. It just wasn’t the same. Yours does look pretty.
@beryl Well8 would have thought so too Beryl but it took us a while to connect the right bits...the middle one was a bit if a bad fit. Easier next time!
We always use an artificial tree, and have done for many years.
The same one too, but apparently, if we want to help with saving the planet we should use a real one.
Farmers grow trees especially for Christmas. They plant huge amounts. It may take 8 to 12 years to grow a good sized tree. But during that time, the tree is taking in carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. It is cleaning the air and helping slow climate change. If people didn't buy the cut trees, the farmers wouldn't plant them. Your tree looks lovely here.
It’s a lovely tree! We’ve had artificial trees for years, Nick was allergic to our real trees. Then once we got used to the artificial ones it was easy to just keep using them.
@happypat Is it not fluffable? Mine needs squishing up and refluffing again every year and you can change its shape all the time by rebending the branches. But mine doesn't have built in lights, so maybe it's a different kind.....
A lovely tree 🎄 and festive image. Danny and I went to the garden centre where he used to work, and bought the tree yesterday. I decorated it today, so that's one job done 😊
Prelit trees are so easy -- until some of the strings go out, as in my case. I'm contemplating whether to remove the strings and replace them or just cover those areas with more ornaments. Yours has a nicely balanced glow!
@gamelee Yes you’re right of course...trees are so good for the planet. It was with great reluctance we plumped for an artificial tree & I still look at this one & think ..well it’s ok but not just the same. I looked at my daughters real one tonight & was envious. I think I will feel better about it when we move. This old house cries out for a proper tree, when we move & go modern it will feel better.
@casablanca I have never heard of fluffing a tree up....it made me think hard. It took us a while to pull all the branches out & get them right but fluffing? The decorations are easier to put on as you can just move the branch to keep them from slipping off as sometimes happens on a real tree...the advantage hopefully will come when we take it down!
@happypat Depends on the style of tree! Some, like mine, come semi folded in that all the branches and sub-branches are folded together and you have to pull them apart and shape them as you want to make it full. It's quite good fun actually and means your tree looks different every year!
@casablanca Ours was like that a bit three sections you put together joking up the connections for the lights. All the branches flopped down & then we could separate the smaller branches placing them as we wished. It’s very effective I must say!
