The last slog after a walk & the narrow bit of the road we all have to negotiate on a bike. The pavement is narrow & some heavy lorries use this road in normal times.
Uncannily quiet at the moment as you can see. When you’re driving along you have to put your indicator on at the bottom of the hill as we turn right into Well Lane just over the brow of the hill.
If something’s coming towards you we hover on the top of the hill & then rush down when there’s a gap in the traffic.
I picked the narcissus from the bank on the left halfway up the hill.
Harry’s bowling companions live in the white farmhouse on the left.
Three good things:
1. Popped into Clevelys this morning to do our banking job.....glad we haven’t to go back...it was unsettlingly busy.
2. Lunch outside in the sun.
3. Jigsaw almost half done...I’m slow!
Thinking if our365 friend @julzmaioro who is unwell at the moment...missing your photos Julz!
It seems that everybody's walk or bike rides have a "that part" in them...we live in a valley so regardless of which way we choose to go for a walk we're faced with "that part" of it as soon as we leave the driveway!
Our banks are doing business through their drive thru lanes, you cannot go inside the bank buildings. On our walking path we have a bit of a rise, but nothing like this!
Thanks for telling about @julzmaioro as I was wondering why she wasn't posting. Wishing her well. Lovely shot but I am sure it looks more intimidating when there is traffic.
I gave up my bike about 20 years ago with the combination of a long steep gravel hill to get home as well as the highway with huge poorly driven Motor homes roaring by you at 65mph as well as tractor trailers loaded with logs...both setting off such a strong wind that it almost knocks you off your bike. It no longer felt worth either risking my life or driving 10 miles to where there were better riding options
Long slow slog..how quiet this looks ,like everything stopped for a moment..our village has a hill each side.either down to Endon,or Norton Green..fine walking down but back up a bit of a climb .when was helping at a school once in the kitchen when the kids were small..I used bike down.could not bike back up now..ha ha
@jgpittenger I haven’t ridden my bike fir a few years either Jane...I have puncture now so it put me off getting it out again. One of the reasons we wanted to move, pottering to the shops with my basket on the front! Not to be!
@graemestevens The beauty of NZ are the ups & downs but not so good to negotiate on foot or bike....hope we can come back in the not too distant future when all this is over!
@louannwarren ours are open shorter hours but working as normal , you have to stand in your square! It was very quiet....they love you to use internet or telephone e banking here!
@s4sayer@loweygrace It looks tame now but it’s a beast when it’s busy.....we know it well but if I’m driving in a car with someone else I’m on tenterhooks if they don’t do it right...no problem co I got in from the other side of course...driving on the left.
