It’s rained & rained all day & still absolutely pouring down!
Not set foot outside the door!
Have made a few phone calls, we are still changing our address at various places before our redirection ends at the end of this week.
Watched a good bit of TV too today....it’s been quite pleasant...no guilt at not going out!!
This house with the very precise cotoneaster is just down the road from us.
Three good things:
1. Chicken wrapped in prosciutto for our meal tonight.
2. A glass of wine to go with it!
3. Looking at kitchen pictures, I have got a good idea of exactly what I want mine to look like!
Wow does that house belong to Mr Tidy? Precise training and pruning. We have firethorn (is it the same thing?) up the back of our house and it’s unruly! Nice to see the blackbirds enjoying them though!
@lucycameron Now then I think I have the name of this plant wrong perhaps....have just checked up a Firethorn & this one could be that & not cotoneaster....I’m not that good in the names of plants! Someone will know. @susiemc. ?
"The pyracantha (firethorn) has larger leaves that are serrated, and the plant is covered in thorns. The cotoneaster, on the other hand, has smaller, smooth-edged leaves and no thorns". I can't see any leaves here so can't make the comparison
I wonder if those red berries eventually fall off and make a squishy pile on the ground. Those big stones would be bad for bad backs. They might have got a landscaper in to do that!
@maggiemae We have one of these bushes with red berries on our gate post. It looks the same so I will go out & look at it’s leaves tomorrow. There were no leaves on this one that I could see. Thanks maggie! @lucycameron
Don't know firethorn .. but we do have contoneaster.. what ever it is it's trimmed to an inch of it's life.. looks great.. Pleased to hear you hsve some firm ideas on your kitchen..
We use rocks to line the flower beds as well.
We do live in Glengarry County where the children used to play a game to see who could go the farthest without stepping on the ground using Glengarry nuggets only!!
@farmreporter These stones are on the top of a wall Wendy...a very smart wall, should have shown more of it but it was the red berries that took my eye!
Kitchens are the most important thing to choose in a house these days I think. From being a poky little room at the back they have become the hub of the house...I’m excited to be looking!
The cotoneaster is very precise, you're right! I like the wall too. I also think you're right about kitchens. They have become the main hub of a house - we are so pleased that we decided to increase ours. Everyone loves it, and cooking is a whole different experience in a nice spacious kitchen. Yours will be beautiful when it's done.

I think he must get the scissors out!! 🤣🤣
