Mr & Mrs Duck

Our resident ducks sitting in the flower bed!
I call it a flower bed but it’s work in progress & not much progress at that!
We have planted a few shrubs but things keep popping up…..primroses everywhere & now forget me nots are surfacing. The bare branches behind them is the large shrub the builder re sited….it’s still alive as there are green shots there on the new growth.
We are sort of biding our time at the moment, keeping the brambles away & watching other plants spread themselves out after being smothered for three years.

Three good things:
1. An eye check up.
2. I was thrilled to see a pair of goldfinches pecking on the lawn this afternoon. At the farm we had loads of them but they all disappeared when we went to NZ & they didn’t get fed. Never had any in that garden or this since but there they were today.
3. We have booked two return rail tickets to Edinburgh in the rail sale! £40 return for two!!
Next is the hotel! Any recommendations would be good! It has to have a restaurant as we like to eat in after a day in town.
So sweet to have your own resident ducks and I like your border.

So lovely to have your own resident ducks ! and interesting to find what pops up in your flower border ! I can see you have a very healthy looking variegated hosta growing there , and perhaps clumps of bluebells to flower soon !

Its quite amazing what comes up when you clear out the bush and open the garden up to light! Plants we never knew we had came up when we did this.
How about : Leonardo Royal Edinburgh Haymarket - looks good and is only NZ $189/night?

Make yourself at home, Mr & Mrs Mallard, why don't you?! I wonder if you'll see ducklings in your garden soon?

@maggiemae Thanks maggie, good choice & we were tempted but we stayed near the Haymarket last time & we were fitter the so easily walked. This time I have a dodgy hip so we have decided more central is best. Gone for La Monde on George Street. Handy for Waverley station so we can leave our baggage there on last day. It cost us £50 at left luggage last time!

@jamibann That’s what we are hoping Issi….no sign of her sitting yet so she’s late…..can’t see any eggs in our garden either.

@susiemc Well Sue compared to your borders ours is a disgrace but early days! I will be happy just to have it tidy & full of perennial shrubs!!

That hotel looks so interesting and comfortable! You can dance the night away in the Shanghai Club, sip cocktails with exotic names and have breakfast till the late hour of 11.30am! In nearly all the places we have stayed in, breakfast stops at 9.30am! Unmanageable!
