A walk into Garstang via the Lancaster Canal this morning. by happypat

A walk into Garstang via the Lancaster Canal this morning.

We had coffee & a scone, Cathy bought me some socks.
The couple sitting on the chairs are former neighbours of ours who also lived in Inglewhite when we did.
They are really into canal barging & Ken when he was mayor of Preston was very instrumental in having the Lancaster Canal joined up through Preston so you could travel from Tewitfield near Kendal right through & onto the midlands in a canal boat.
The Ribble Link.

There were seven barges moored up here & they were having a barge meet up.

Duck situation is much better.
The poor things are having a family spat too. I think the biggest drake is actually one of their last years offspring who is clinging on to mums apron strings.
Dad keeps chasing him off & a few times today he has turned up on his own.
Thrown out of the family & we don’t want them either!

Homeless & no family, it’s time he did a bit of courting & founded his own dynasty.
A lovely capture

Doesn't look cold at all. Must be great to meet like minded people!

What fun on those barges. Your bachelor duck needs to find a mate.

Looks like a a lovely place to walk. I always feel sorry for birds when their offspring don't want to leave home. We have a pair of butcher birds with a youngster that doesn't want to leave his parents and Mr Butcher Bird gets quite aggressive and vocal towards his youngster.

Lovely photo and the Lancaster canal was where we had a lovely Airbnb when we headed south for a wedding a couple of years ago. Nice memories.
Laughing at the duck episodes. 😄

Such an idyllic walk along the canal and your friends look very comfortable sitting there!. Ooh dear , the saga of the ducks still goes on does it - Poor bachelor boy - perhaps he will get the urge to find a girlfriend soon as we come into Spring! ha !

Looks like a nice place to walk. Quite a saga going on with the ducks, we’re all smiling, but I bet it’s not fun really!

Yes I’m afraid the duck is over staying it’s welcome at home….a bit like our own human children sometimes especially now when the bank of dad & mum is very attractive!

I love seeing to long. Oats and canals. They are so unique (to me). Oh my it sounds like you’ve been dealing with a duck family. They are so messy.
