Long gone! by happypat

Long gone!

We seem to go to a fair few funerals these days & one last week was lovely….if you can call a funeral lovely that is?
A really lovely old church at Cockerham, full church, great singing & a slap up funeral buffet!

Later we walked back to the graveyard to have a wander round the graves & pay our respects to Marion.

Very interesting old grave stones.
lovely photo...

I don’t know why I’ve always loved old cemeteries and one of the first things I painted in repeat as a child was old tombstones with bare trees and a full moon.

Graveyards are very photogenic , I tend not to photograph them though , although I think I've maybe posted some gravestones with driving snow

What an interesting find. I wonder if any of their descendants still visit and remember them.

Amazing how visiting old graveyard interest a lot of us. And the style and info carved on the gravestones have changed over the decades. Nice find and capture

Amazing to see the year 1703! Or is it 1793? Such history. We all remember 'lovely' funerals - it's very special!

So nice to have a good send off where the happy memories can flow. This old stone is a beauty, almost Rossetti like
