Valles Caldera by harbie

Valles Caldera

This is the Valley Caldera. It is a valley of the remains of a collapsed volcano creating a 13 mile wide circular depression. It is in New Mexico near Los Alamos. I have always found this area fascinating. When we lived in New Mexico (22 years ago), it was a private ranch, and you could only look at it from the road. It is now a National Preserve, and you can drive into it. It makes me so happy that it is protected land. Jane, @janeandcharlie, has a beautiful photo of the same area on July 21st. Thank you for viewing! Best on black.
