When hiking in the Maroon Bells, first you come to Maroon Lake, and then if you hike further, there is Crater Lake. All of the downed trees at the lake's edge are from an avalanche. @janeandcharlie. Thank you Jane. You would love this area. The hike to Crater Lake is 1.5 miles with a 500 ft elevation gain. The hike to Maroon Lake is probably 1/2 of that with little elevation gain.☺
