Manitou Springs Incline by harbie

Manitou Springs Incline

Manitou Springs is just SW of Colorado Springs. This is a really popular hiking trail that is a fantastic challenge. It is one mile with an average grade of 40%. This used to be a cable car route but they took out the rails in 1990 leaving the wooden ties. People hiked it "illegally" until 2013. The top you see is a false top. There is still about another 1/4 to go when you reach that spot. Both people from Colorado and visitors like to give it a try! Although, Coloradans are used to the high altitude (base 6530 ft and top 8550 ft)! Thanks!
Sam
Fabulous - I would LOVE to try this!

@miata2u Thanks Peggy! I would love the follow and to follow you back! I have done the Incline 3 times. My daughter and I have said we are going to try to do it once a month this summer! June is down just July and August to go. I may need the paramedics by August! Haha!

It's making me tired just looking at it haha but I got excited when I saw Colorado Springs - I was born there in an Army Hospital back in 1971 - haven't been back since but would love to go and visit my birthplace - thanks for sharing!

Wow, that's a fabulous challenge, at altitude too. Love the picture , it tells how hard it is. Dave and I had a fab walking holiday in Austria. We walked up a different part of the Alps every day for a fortnight. One day we walked into Italy for ice cream. Wish my knee would fully recover so we could do something similar.
