High Over Aachen

This weekend is the only TWO days a year the bell tower of the Aachen cathedral is open to the public. The sky was wonderful yesterday and I got some much better shots than last year. That is the back of our town hall, which was originally Charlemange's palace in the 800's. There is also an art fair going on in town, and the 'katschof' square between the town hall and the cathedral is filled with colorful umbrellas from the artists booths. This is also where the pole-vaulting was set up this wednesday ( http://365project.org/harvey/365/2010-09-01).

Anne and I had a great day yesterday, we saw some friends at the fair when we were out walking around, we caught up for a while and then they came back to our place where we had some belgian beer on our patio and then dinner. It was totally spontanious but was really nice. My wife and I aren't usually so spontanious but we decided it wasn't a bad thing at all!
Aachen really looks like a place worth visiting.

What a stunning view! How fun that you ran into friends and ended up having a spur-of-the-moment get together at your place.
