Devil's Den

As seen through the doorway of a monument to the 12th and 44th N.Y. Regiments that fought on Little Round Top.

Toured the Battlefield at Gettysburg today with the boys and my husband - the built in tour guide. (Historian AND Gettyburg College grad! :) It is a lot to take in - especially for the boys who, thankfully, cannot even imagine A battle - let alone the scope of the one that took place here in 1863. But it is awe inspiring nonetheless - and definitely a place that people need to see. Very impressive. A lot of people suffered so that this country could be as great as it is...
I had the privilege of a private tour here years ago and left so impressed. I did not see this monument though. This is a wonderfully framed shot. Later I read a book called "The Killer Angels" about the battle and it is excellent.

Very nice shot. My husband must be a little like yours--he's an engineer but has read Civil War books for years, so he can tell me exactly how the battles took place.
