Oh the glamour of TK Max

There is no way that glamour and me have ever co-incided. I've been racking my brains as to what to do when it gets to the end of the week and I have to represent myself in self- portrait with the word glamour.

Having had to go out at lunch-time today to return my overdue library maps, I decided to look around and see if there was an accessory here or there that might help me in my quest.

Finding myself in the hat corner of TK Max, I rejected a full array of hats whilst trying to work out what, exactly, was meant by glamour. I had earlier looked at the definition, and the words I was clinging on to were 'mysterious' and 'unusual' Surely these, at least, were a possibility for me?

Grasping, inexplicably, a black sparkly beanie style hat that I can only assume was meant as a cover up for those unfortunate enough to be bald I was hoping that it might deal with my not so stylish mess of grey hair in one easy covering. I then ventured further, to seek something that might cover my neck and arms in a possibly intriguing way.

Quite why I ended up in the changing rooms with the two aforementioned items, is worthy of question, but there I was, and finding that the dress was not an all-over success, I was preparing to abandon the project. Only it occurred to me that I had my camera in my bag, and that the background wallpaper in the changing room was, well, unusual.

So here I am, with one hand to the camera, in dimly lit conditions, pointing blindly at a mirror and hoping to catch my reflection in a glamorous pose whilst illiminating the plethera of labels, security tags etc on show.

I'm quickly aware that my spectacles are unlikely to be part of a glamorous look, and the problems intensify as I continue with the task, only this time, I can no longer see what I am doing, let alone the camera.

And now, viewing the results, it is clear that I must stop that 50 year old habit of rubbing my itching eyes, and I must get more sleep. The eyes too, have to go from the scene and so with them, goes the sparkly head covering.

I am left with this. I think I'm ok with my shoulder.

The search may, or may not, resume.

I feel you've captured glamour Helen. Your photo has a very French feel to it which is always stylish and glamourous. Had to smile at your glasses fiasco in the changing rooms - know and share your pain on this one.

You write very well ... I think this is quite enigmatic .. a 60s feel and a hint of The Avengers

haha well i soooooo enjoyed your narrative that i will fav for that alone. it's certainly a glamorous top, with glamorous wallpaper, and i think your tight crop shows you off beautifully, and fits with the 'mysterious' element. for me, there's something regal as well as glamorous

This dress fits you to a T! It is now cocktail time and you will fit in beautifully! I can sympathise with the eyes. Tried to take a picture of me without glasses and discovered I looked cross-eyed!

@maggiemae oh I forgot to mention that - I AM cross eyed! ;) Thank you for you nice comment - I didn't buy the dress, it only looked good the top half.

my hat's off to you, my friend. you portrayed glamour rather well here, it looked effortless, but of course your narrative disproves that. beautifully composed. aces!

A very cool selfie and certainly a glam image

A+ for effort on this one. Posh wall paper for a dressing room but it was in your favor. I do think it looks rather elegant. Glamour always makes me think of feather boas or fur coats. Not sure they sell either of them in TK Max. Nonetheless, I think you conquered the challenge and then some- and I really like the tight crop!

I had to smile at your story, it's a shame the sparkly number didn't make an appearance but the crop works for an intriguing image. This could easily grace the pages of a glamour magazine, and I think TK Max would approve too.

A fav for making me laugh so much with your narrative! I think this should works well, even without the sparkly beanie. Lipstick alone constitutes glamour for me:)
