Blended Heron

How many heron photographs can I fit into this project?

There is a particular spot where this heron likes to hang out, on the edge of a weir. The bridge allows the perfect viewing spot and lets just put it this way .... after 100 or so shots I thought it time for me to move on.

On my way to today's hospital procedure I saw someone setting up with tripod and bags of equipment and wondered whether the heron was around somewhere. I became distracted because the photographer was wearing a kilt and as I walked by he bent down to attend to some of his (photographic) kit. Protruding from the sides of his upturned head, I spotted two long curls of moustache and realised without a doubt that this was the very same amateur photograph enthusiast that a friend of mine had been describing that she worked with, just a few days ago.

Several hours later as I passed the spot again, my heron was waiting - it was my turn to be photographer. I pulled out my pocket camera and snapped away. I like this one with the moving water in the background, as the heron blends almost seamlessly into the water.

(I will be in trouble if you don't like it since it is not the one my son picked!)
Fabulous POV!! Great shot.

Fabulous capture of the heron and its interesting feathery designs! Now you haven't said what you saw when the man with the kilt bent over!

You picked a good one! This is gorgeous. I love how you've captured the heron against the swirly water. Easy fav! And...isn't it such a small world?

@maggiemae just the moustache! It wasn't a mini-kilt.

I was so happy to have all of your comments - each of you is such an encouragement. @flowerfairyann really I am just fortunate that this heron likes to hang out at such a convenient place. On this occasion, he took a walk almost to the point of being under the bridge, to get this shot, I had to time things so that I could take the shot through the ironwork of the fence along the bridge withoutthe heron being obscured. No secret. Just good fortune.
