Faces and the Smile Challenge

Faced with the challenge of finding a smile today (January words) I feared the worst. Examining faces on my journey into and around town at pre 9.00am I found there to be much glumness. To be fair, I wasn't walking along with a big smile on my face either. I tested the smile muscles but it just didn't feel right.

The faces sculpture pretty much reflected the mood in the town. It looked to me like these two faces might be playing that game where you have to keep a straight face for as long as possible!

Saw the file I, Daniel Blake this evening. No smiling there either. A real tear jerker and depicting such a sad state of affairs here in the UK.

So, not quite January words, but I tried. I think I can safely write off my chances of depicting Barbeque tomorrow!
What a beautiful sculpture with fantastic lighting on it. You've given me an idea of how to approach a sculpture I've long been trying to take a decent shot of - thank you. Lovely photo.

A different sort of sculpture and certainly seen so close up is not so appealing. The blank eyes - no smiling eyes thats for sure!

As if it's hiding its face and the feelings behind it. Excellent composition.
