Capturing the essence

I considered the small crop of snowdrops in our front 'garden' to be a suitable subject for the black and white study - especially since it was the background interference that was causing me so much trouble a week or so ago when I first shot them. Whack up the contrast and decrease the exposure and that might help to keep the attention on the beautiful drop.

So this is what I did (more or less) and I now believe what I am left with is a low-key image.

Quite pleased with this one.
Beautiful, your snow drops are certainly ahead of ours!

I have to be amused, as I posted on my facebook account and everyone told me they could see a penguin and not a snowdrop. I was just a touch demoralised as well as amused, but they are right - squint and the penguin appears and once appeared never goes away.
