And here is the footbridge about which so many have complained. It really isn't too bad from close up, but certainly is not the streamlined glass sided bridge that appeared on the planning submission. My opinion:
To me, the bridge pays no respect nor sensitivity to what was there before it. It is less out of place as part of the new complex and I can see that it is certainly a bonus to have the extra foot crossing for convenience.
Anyway, I was out to capture it at its best, and find a certain appeal in this view.
To an outsider this is most pleasing. Did you manage to get a vertical shot so that the top of the curve is visible. That would be hard without something like a post or whatever getting in the way
great shot. I like that bridge! Well, I love this style of architecture.
Is the bridge really that blue? Then it can camouflage when it is a sunny day with blue sky and fluffy clouds :-)
@jorlam thank you so much for your informed comments. Quite hard to get a shot without distractions. @dianen thank you Diane @ivan and Ivan. @helenm2016 I need to own up about the blue .... see my explanation at the end of these comments! @janemartin I like 'artistic' thank you. @shylaine3304 perhaps more interesting because it is so new and shiny @ethelperry glad you like it Ethel. The problem with getting the full curve in the frame, was that there was a lot of additional competing and unwanted clutter in the background. @gaylewood glad you like it Gayle. The blues - see my comment at the end @stimuloog I am most honoured! thank you. @moonmtn@gardenfolk@haskar@stephanies@auricula42
Thanks to all for the enthusiastic response to this. I was quite surprised. I need to let you in to a secret about the blue. The bridge is not really that blue, but I had left the camera on a different white balance setting having taken some photos indoors. I found myself unable to adequately adjust the balance in photoshop to anything which looked realistic - despite googling how to do it. In the end, I just went for choosing a photo filter which I thought looked best rather than trying to find the correct colours. This applies to all the photos of Riverside North.
@onewing just as sell I took this when I did. There is now a row of safety barriers strapped to each side of the bridge as it seems that the horizontal safety wires are already causing problems!
