In the Fields: dog rose

I'm sticking with the plants theme from my early morning walk at the weekend. It isn't quite 'In the Fields' but pretty close by and 'In the hedgerows'. I was drawn to this single rose by the way the light was picking it out from the rest.

I've been to a play this evening about the conditions for women at our local Yarl's Wood 'Removal Centre' (It used to be called 'detention centre' and women can still be there from anything from a few days to a few years. By the way, a terrorist can only be detained for 14 days without charge. These women are asylum seekers not criminals). And so, I dedicate this rose to the women there today, locked up just a couple of miles away from my home. My hope and prayer for them is that that they will find sweetness and beauty in their lives one day soon.
Pretty light and composition.

I like the textures you've brought out in this image.

The rather crumpled texture of the petals is unexpected. Thanks for your words about the women and the removal centre

Pretty capture Helen, I didn't know the name had changed from detention to removal... Our system of doing things is long overdue an overhaul I think...
