So to round off my series from the fields of Stevington, on one sleepy Saturday morning when even the dog walkers were still in bed, I will reveal the context of my preceeding posts. (I have picked just one more for my extras album)
Stevington Mill stands in the field as a fine fully restored example of a post mill. Built in 18th century, with a later roundhouse and last worked commercially in 1936.
Just a couple of years ago, I spent a contemplative few hours in this field one Sunday afternoon, reflecting on a forthcoming change of direction in my life, I had applied for a job in offices in a converted barn just to the right on this picture. What a fine place to work - but it wasn't to be. I'm pleased to say, that my spirits are generally somewhat more up beat than they were at that time, but the sight of the mill brings much from then back for me. I can remember the paces I took through the field, the thoughts in my head, and the heat of the day.
If I didn't see the solar panels in the distance I could easily imagine this from days gone by. It looks like a lovely place to take in the sunshine, listen to the sounds of nature and enjoy life. Lovely shot.
Terrific capture of this beautiful area! Such interesting information about the Stevington Windmill. I was curious so I checked online for more info . . . on the Bedford Borough Council site it noted that this windmill was constructed around a central post so that it can be turned to face into the wind and is the only complete windmill left in the county. Quite impressive! :-)
Love the many layers of colour and textures.. the mill looks so 'at home' sitting (as it appears) in an ocean of plant life.. an idyllic country scene.. the bird is quite a bonus..
pleased, for you, to read your life is more up-beat in the present..
Sometimes things are just not meant to be and it can be hard to understand why. Usually the reasons are seen in the fullness of the time. It's a beautiful capture that alludes to the stillness and peacefulness of the time of the day.
