As we drove past this gate on our way to the evening function on Saturday, it was looking splendid with the evening light behind. No sooner had I mentioned this than my husband pulled in to the drive for me to take a photograph.
I looked it up - as you do - and apparently these splendid iron gates have been welcoming guests to Clivedon since the 19th century. The National Trust are currently working on a project to restore them.
I have been on the look out for backlit images. The ironwork doesn't exactly let light through, so I'm not sure if this qualifies for the technique challenge. But that bright evening light was certainly behind the gate making it stand out beautifully against the blue sky.
This is rather lovely.. i'm in awe of the work which went into making these stunningly ornamental gate.. they do make a fine silhouette.. you have made a fab image too..
@redandwhite thank you for your kind comments. I agree it is splendid ironwork. @777margo thank you so much Margo @kwind thanks Kim. Very intricate I agree. @onewing thank you Babs. I thought so too - certainly drew my attention from the car. @jorlam thank you so much for your kind comment. All credit to the master craftsmanship. @cruiser indeed.
