So I am continuing on my trawl through the holiday photographs, but keeping myself amused by trying to find within, something I can work on to meet the One Week Only challenge
Todays challenge was high key still life. This image didn't start as high key, and it isn't really a still life, but nevertheless it has given me the opportunity to look at something that would not naturally be my style. It still doesn't achieve the required graph for a true high key image. Furthermore, I read that high key is most appropriately applied to upbeat and cheery subject matter. BUT I think I have arrived at something that I like so I am posting it.
Taken in Boston on Commonwealth Avenue, it is a detail from The Vendome Memorial, which honors nine firefighters killed in the 1972 Hotel Vendome fire, and is sculpted by Theodore Clausen with landscape architect Peter White in 1997.
@suzanne234 yes, I think this was my favourites of the statues on Commonwealth Avenue. And a very moving and thoughtful tribute. @moonmtn thank you. The shadows certainly help the image. @onewing thank you Babs. I think you would like it along Commonwealth avenue. @stimuloog thank you so much for your comment and fav which I was very pleased to have. @summerfield many thanks. Although when doing this it felt contrived, I was happy with the result in the end and it was definitely an improvement on the SOOC version. @carolmw thank you Carol @teresamaro thank you so much for your visit and comment Teresa.
