I think this will be a week of drawing from the February archives. My route to work and back in the drizzle is not inspiring me at all.
So here is one I took along the Embankment on a Sunny day when the shadows were long. I am always drawn to the shadows of these benches. My composition here was certainly about the lines, but also texture in the gravel which really shows through in the black and white conversion.
I thought I would throw in the bike for a bit of added shape and interest - but maybe would have been better to have positioned it more carefully and removed the large back of books heading for the charity shop, from the front basket.
I love this! The long shadows and the contrasting shapes and the textures. Sometimes capturing things as you first see them is best, because obviously it caught your eye. Staging is an art and sometimes serendipity is better at it.
Include a bicycle and you're onto a winner, that's what I always say! Excellent composition and lighting.... the raking light really shows up the textures. Perfect processing too. Fav
