As I wasn't sleeping, I dragged myself reluctantly out of bed and clambered up the rocky path behind Scargill House . It took just one minute before I knew I had made the right decision. The morning, yet new, was full of promise. I paused to watch a roe deer breakfasting on the hedgerows before expressing his displeasure at my presence, then wound my way upwards through paths lined with bluebells, primroses and cowslips until reaching the Dales Way. Approaching the high pasture accompanied by the high shrills and conversational song of the birds, I was treated to an exhilarating display of morning antics from lapwings diving down to the horizon and twirling back and forth as the sun rose up, from behind the dry stone wall.
It didn't matter that I couldn't catch them with my camera. The experience was one to be enjoyed and savoured before rushing back down the hill for breakfast.
What a shame that I misread my watch and could have lingered longer at that special place in the Yorkshire Dales before breakfast.
It spounds like a well worth climb! Wonderful how you’ve described the surroundings.
At first I thought that the left animal had a tail up, but then I saw it was a bird, haha. I like your comp and the conversion to B&W.
Oh . . . I loved reading the description of your morning walk. That's the type of experience that I now cherish and never take for granted. I've found that usually it's impossible to get photos that truly reflect the essence of this type of experience, although I keep trying. I think nature's beauty is truly marvelous! :-)
