What does entirely abstract mean anyway? That you can't recognize anything? For me, your photo is abstract. I like the light black and white, the clear lines and the camera angle.

It's pretty close to an abstract. It's really nice as a macro because the detail of the basket and pearls is really nice. It could easily be turned into an abstract by the way you crop it- if you were inclined to fiddle with it. By cropping to a smaller portion which (for example) only takes in a part of a pearl or two and some of the lines of the basket you would take away the "connection to external reality" and bring out more of the designs and patterns.
@olivetreeann thank you Ann. Yes I agree. I did try all of that. This is, in fact, already a substantial crop from the original. But I liked the curved edge of the bowl and so opted to keep it in.
