Contemplating major engineering works

Popped down to the station in my lunch break to pick up tickets that will take us on the first leg of a long journey this weekend. Yes - it is holiday time (after all the madness that accompanies the build up to the same).

These two appeared, looking intently at the departures board. I couldn't help being amused - it was as if they were trying to work out whether they were themselves the major engineering works that we were being warned about, or whether they were going to be inconvenienced by them.

Bumped into a friend who had abandoned his journey due to problems caused by a strike on the london underground. We are an hours journey away from the london underground. We couldnt help speculating as to whether the rail company no longer dared use ' leaves on the line' as an excuse for cancellations, so they grasped at the next best excuse they could find. Wish me well for my journey on Sunday - I dont want to miss the plane!

This will be my submission for week 45 of the 52 week challenge - to tell a complete story by only showing half of it. I think you have half a story here -and the complete story is up for your own interpretation.
Great POV.

Interesting shot- it does hint at a story one has to fill in. I like that we don't know exactly what they're looking at. But they do seem to dressed for some kind of safety work. Safe travels- hope all goes well in getting to the airport.

Safe travels

Substitute communication - it works in Poland. The train stops at a small station and tells you to change to the bus. After driving the repaired section, you get on the train and continue your journey. It's funny if you do not have any luggage and you're not in a hurry.

It's interesting how they are just standing there. One looking at his phone and the other at the departures board??

Ouch, as a Londoner, I feel your pain! Between the strikes and the engineering works, travel is not so much of a pleasure always these days. I wish you all the best for your flight on Sunday!

Yes, you do wonder about the conversation going on here. Well timed. Hope all runs smoothly for your holiday.

Have a great holiday! Guess the other half of the story is when work commences and all the passengers are looking at the departure board ...

@fbailey thank you Felicity. I think you might have guessed that one correctly.
@flowerfairyann thank you Ann - they were stood there a long time, so I cant claim credit for timing!
@naomi thank you Naomi - it amused me anyway!
@samae thank you Sarah :)

@bkbinthecity thanks Brian, for visiting my project and your comment - much appreciated.
@yrhenwr thank you David. You can expect all you like but Im a little apprehensive that im going to be struggling with the photography on this trip. I hope there will be some but they will probably have to wait. Im expecting a lack of wifi, not to mention power!
@ivan thanks Ivan. They are definitely going to be seen on the line aren't they?
@casablanca Hi there Casablanca - lovely of you to visit my project and comment. I am so glad that I do not do this commute. This last year has been a big challenge for commuters on our line. I think you have enough troubles in London too - keeping track of what is open and what is not running at any one time.
@kjarn I was certainly speculating as to what they were waiting for. @haskar that sounds like a familiar story. It is a definite risk here when travelling back from London on a very late train at the weekend. @Dawn thanks Dawn.
@joemuli :) (I cant do symbols!)
@olivetreeann thank you Ann . We shall leave plenty of time.
@kwind thanks Kim.
