The morning after I took the photograph of this bridge with a rainbow behind, an overnight yarn-bombing had occurred.
I'm thankful for a life lived in freedom and remembering that today, many are not free.
I recognise that freedom has come at a great cost, but I am most thankful for the peace makers of this world.
I'm challenged by these words in the Beatitudes:
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they will be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called the sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
Totally agree, the peacemakers of this world pulled with one arm in one direction, one in the other between two groups and often end up crucified in the middle. Yet still they try. A wonderful thing.
Lovely tribute on the bridge.
But there are times when action has to be taken. E.g. I wouldn't want a totally different culture imposed on me as a British resident. People in other parts of this globe feel the same, under threat.
Very true- coupled with Ecclesiastes 3 they strike a balance- I think we must always strive to do things the peaceful way first. But there are some ideologies that sometimes force us to take a stand. Great words Helen and a beautiful shot to go with them.
Lovely tribute on the bridge.
