the end of a tether by helenhall

the end of a tether

I really was at the end of my tether looking for textures on a dull day, when I came upon this fag end on the top of the litter bin and decided to seek texture from a slice of the surface upon which it was resting. (I think I found it more in the fag end itself)

Just as I looked up from taking the shot, an acquaintance greeted me having been holding back with his bike and his dog, for fear of spoiling my composition.

Sometimes, this hobby can be a little embarrassing.

I will look for something prettier to post tomorrow.
that is an eotb shot if i ever saw one, great spotting

hahahaha, yep, had one of those moments this morning. Nice DOF here and the discarded ciggy gives it the needed interest.

Well spotted. We all have to endure strange looks from people on occasion don't we when we see what we consider to be an interesting photo. Non photographers just don't get it do they.

Great story, I also feel awful that people stop for me to pfaff around with a pic. Nice texture shot.

@redfuchsia @ivan I always have a little laugh when I see the word interesting on my thread. 365'ers are so polite!
@bella_ss @onewing @Dawn @sugarmuser @fbailey so glad we all share that same embarrassment for our art. Im not alone it seems.
@moonmtn @graemestevens thank you - glad you found something to enjoy here!
@kali66 ha! I'm hard pushed myself to find beauty in this.

I like it very much. Good POV and focus giving all that unfocussed space forcing the eye to confront the cigarette. Excellent contrasting textures... rough and delicate. So much you could have done with just a glance and maybe a word to spare your blushes and make a 'teaching point'! Well done anyway for giving her/him something to think about!

I was in town today and saw these really interesting trees with peeling bark. Pulled out my little point and shoot thinking no one was nearby and started taking a few quick shots. Next thing I know I hear a voice saying, "Good eye- they are such interesting trees I wish I knew what they are." A lady had come up behind me and was looking at the screen over my shoulder! LOL Sadly- the pictures don't do the bark justice (at least not in black and white). Good shot!

good eye! i think this is very cool in b&w. if there's an eotb going on at the moment you might want to enter it for that ;)
