The idea was to use the arch of the swan's neck to frame one of her cygnets, but after a long wait as the little ones swam around but never quite got themselves in the right place at the right time, and the swan never managed to arch her neck at quite the right time either, I was getting late for work. So I snapped this and went on my way.
Turn around, walk a couple of steps, mimic putting your camera away.
Now spin around as fast as you can, if your camera settings are right you'll have time for one shot as they slide in to perfect composition. It's a habit they are taught at the school for ugly ducklings. Never pose for a camera.
I must have wasted hours waiting for swans to neatly line themselves up.
Wonderful timing with both their bills in the water. What Mark commented seems to be true . . . I find most birds are determined NOT to pose for a camera. :-)
