Willows Bad Hair Day by helenhall

Willows Bad Hair Day

Saturday was exceptionally windy. There is plenty of debris in the parks and streets around, to testify for the battering taken by the trees. The horse chestnuts have shed their conkers somewhat prematurely and the local council had to remove around 20 fallen trees over the weekend.

But this willow is still standing. I tried to capture something of the sense of movement as the branches swayed heavily with the gusts. The approach I took here, was a composite of four captures taken in quick succession, with an additional filter thrown in for good measure.

Over in my extras album, is a more static shot - because I am not sure which gives the better sense of the action.
you had a lovely play with this

If this was in color it would remind me of a lovely Impressionist painting. I think it does a good job in capturing the motion. Good shot.

Wow, looks similar to the winds we have had here the last few days.

This is interesting, but I like the static shot better

I love both shots and feel that they both show movement...this one more so in my humble opinion shows the craziness of the gusts. How fun to capture the scene both ways. Weather is a powerful force, isn’t it!
