Chris

I wish I could tell you the real name of this wok like instrument that Chris was playing. He was making some truly wonderful sounds with it - as he accompanied worship leader Marc James playing at the Kingstock festival at the weekend.
It’s a hang. Looks like he enjoys playing it.

Isn't the music fabulous. It is called a hang drum or sometimes a handpan. I first heard one being played in 2013 in Melbourne.

What a wonderful picture! I’ve never seen an instrument like that before, and you captured the moment beautifully. I love the look on his face β€” such a thoughtful expression. You captured his emotion so well!

I agree with Janet. I haven't seen one either and you have captured his thoughtful expression well. Fav

Thanks for introducing this to us - and for the link Babs β€” such a haunting sound

@sugarmuser @onewing @olivetreeann @summerfield thanks for naming the instrument and Babs for even supplying the sound for everyone's benefit. I was interested to read how the original maker of the instrument rejects the name of 'hang drum'. The original was just called the 'hang', and more accepted, to the makers, it would seem is the term 'hand pan'. They are quite pricey bits of kit!

@ludwigsdiana that amused me too!

Great that you can play music and dry your socks at the same time!
