Whether as a teenager in angst, or a carer at witts end, there is a place just 20 minutes climb up the steps and along the lane, where one can enter the forest of Delamare and within minutes be lost in a new world of wonder.
It is a place which slowly restores sanity and replenishes spirit.
It is a place in which the elevated trees reach to the heavens with a single minded purpose and determination. The birds play hide and seek teasing tantalisingly with their song. The strong smell of the tall ferns speaking of spring summer and autumn all in one, evokes memories of carefree frolicking in the out of school days. And delightfully, the blackberries and raspberries hang lusciously side by side ripe and ready for the picking.
Or so it was today.
My go to place that provokes in me a longing, to return, to be back where I belong - recognising now, what I was too young to appreciate then.
There is something so restorative about being amongst trees. I feel the stress drain away when I duck into the shade. I love the photo. It has an other-worldly feel.
Everyone needs a go to place so glad you have found a place to relax and breathe.
