Mail box, Post box, Letter box. I got a little confused with the February word 'Mailbox' and whether a Post box would suffice. Our letters are generally delivered through a letter box in the UK and mail boxes are unusual.
Alongside my confusion, I had a get pushed challenge from Val - "I see youre making your way nicely through the February Words. For your Challenge, how about taking "Contrast" from the 27th"
I saw this postbox when out yesterday, and was struck by the light and shade on the side of the box and wondered if that would give me the contrast needed to fulfil the brief.
I haven't done this challenge justice. But I ran out of time and ideas and the next challenge is due.
@helenhall helen :) Nice one, I was a Christmas postie back in the day (students could get an Xmas job as postie's because of the large volume of post), my late father was a postie too !
I like this. Looks as though it has been painted many times over the years.
Had a thought about its name, when I lived in the UK it was always a letter box to me, I guess because we also had letter boxes on our front doors. When we came to Australia though we post our letters in a post box and collect our mail in the mail box. We don't have letter boxes in our front doors here, our mail boxes are outside on our front lawn. So I guess I use all three versions
@helenhall nailed the challenge I'd say - fab contrast of light & shade. I had a week that swept past too quickly too - but all bringing us closer to end if Lockdown, hopefully!
Helen, I hope your day isn't too hectic for you (but take your time in getting me my challenge...it can wait). My challenge for you is to get a picture from ground level...a worm's eye view shot, if you will. Good luck and happy shooting!
At first sight, I thought this was your entry for the first day of rainbow month - would be a perfect fit. I really like how you're filling the picture.
Ooo, that luscious red. And the shadows give it a wonderful contrast. I love the textures...looks like the box has received layers of paint over the years...what stories it could tell!
