Pomegranates

"My memory is like a pomegranate,
Shall I open it over you and let it scatter, seed by seed:
red pearls befitting a farewell that asks nothing of me except forgetfulness"

from poem by
Mahmoud Darwish

This little vase was purchased in the delightful village of Battir in the West Bank on a recent trip. I used it, along with my half spent pomegranate for an exercise in lighting from the 'Year with my Camera' course that I am resuming after a long break. It is part of a series - with the same object taken with light coming from different directions. So alongside the artistic ambitions in my photography, I also have the intention of completing the course and becoming a more competent photographer. Let's see ......

Helen, really lovely. A wonderful poem, too bad pomegranets are so pricy where I live, I wouldn't mind having them sprinkled over me. What a wonderful little vase perfect pairing with the real thing. Best of luck with AYWMC, I attribute my photographic prowess to Emma Davies' program. I photographed pomegranates for a still life back in October......

I love the vase and would definitely have bought it if I saw it...vases are the first thing I look for when browsing markets and second hand stores...bit of a penchant of mine ha ha
