23 Skiddoo! That expression actually originated with the Flat Iron building. When it was completed in 1902, it caused new wind gusts along 23rd Street and 5th Avenue that whipped up lady pedestrian's long Victorian skirts exposing their stockinged ankles and lower limbs even. A type of man was encouraged to hang out on 23rd Street just for the titillation!
