This morning was Will's end of term music recital at school. Here he is looking a little nervous waiting to play saxophone in the ensemble. It's a small village school (around 100 pupils 4-11 years old) and this is his last year before moving up. They played Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and the Wallace and Grommit themes.
I don't know what it is, but I've never managed to get more than twenty seconds into a school performance before I start weeping (make that ten seconds for a nativity play!). I've learned from past experience to make sure I've got my waterproof mascara on and a good supply of man-size tissues.
So you can imagine what a state I was when all the children joined their sweet little voices to sing John Lennon's Imagine. I'd call it Mental Cruelty! But to quote the song, "I'm not the only one..." - there was a whole lot of sniffling going on by the end of the first chorus...
I know this is blurry, but so were my eyes!
Phew! I am not alone :o) I ALWAYS get a lump in my throat at school concerts, even if its not my Son singing/acting/speaking/sitting/dressed as a sheep. I just start to blubber, try hold it together..but fail!
Helen, I doubled back to see if you'd joinned the group with 365 Addiction...yep, you qualify! My addiction is obvious...it's past midnight & here I still am! I've all but scrapped watching any telly, and in the morning, first stop is the bathroom & here I am again! On the up side, it's not costing what ebay cost me "back in the day"... Without kids around and anything I "have to do", I'm far too fascinated with everyone here & their wonderful pictures! I'm lucky that Ken finds it interesting, too, and we brainstorm for photos together. I think we've been lucky to have fallen in with a talented & charming circle,,,I dare not look to see if I'm missing out elsewhere! It;s all I can do to juggle what I've taken on! I could ramble on, if I didn't need sleep, but for health's sake, I must get to bed. See you tomorrow; I always look forward to it!
Isn't it funny what tugs at our emotions? My tears well up at the beginning of EVERYTHING kid-related and the some (like parades)! This is a beautiful portrait!
Thanks for sharing :o)
