If I ruled the world...every south-facing wall in the world would be smothered in wisteria. Okay, it wouldn't be the first job on my list, but once I'd sorted out the big stuff, it would be right up there.
Wisteria needs complex-and-arcane pruning techniques, handed down in secret runes, through generations of gardeners, to keep it flowering well. I have no knowledge of this ancient craft, but I married a man who does. Not the only reason I married him of course, just one of many!
I love Wisteria! The size and droop of the racemes is so heavenly delicate. I finally planted one several years ago and it's now nearing adulthood and producing prolifically.
If I ruled the world I might do the same with bougainvillaea and I think it would be top priority, yes am sure it would! Really beautiful, didn't know Mac had green fingers!
yep, bougainvillea would be next on my list; Compulsory for all white-washed walls, conservatories and pavement cafes (only the bright pink variety allowed). Looks like we've got a whole election manifesto coming on here....maybe we should be standing on Thursday - as The Floral Party.
I think wisteria is one of the most BEAUTIFUL things I have ever seen. When it drapes over a wall or building or fence or whatever, it simply takes your breath away. I wish it bloomed all the time; but then I guess we would take it for granted. This photo is gorgeous. And it goes right into my favs.
Wow, so pretty. My mom always talks of the wisteria that covered her grandparents front porch. House is still there, but porch and these beautiful flowers are long gone.
