I needed a change of scene today, or at least a change of chair as I've been sitting at my desk so long I'm in danger of undergoing some strange Kafka-esque metamorphosis into a new life-form, Half Human, Half Furniture.
On my way to the cafe at Waterstones, I noticed the horse chestnut trees on Christ's Pieces dropping their leaves already. It looks like pretty early autumn colour from a distance, but sadly, horse chestnut trees all over this part of the world are dying off early due to the combined effects of the grossly named trio of Bleeding Canker, Leaf Blotch Fungus and Leaf Miner Moth. Poor things.
I left my camera in the car so took this with my iPhone.
Hard to believe that they are under attack. The scene is so beautiful.A lot of time it is like that. What is seen outwardly does not tell the whole story.
Shame about the horse chestnuts and hopefully there will be a solution before theyre lost forever. Your photo is lovely and amazing that you can get such lovliness from a phone :)
I've always liked views like this- yellow leaves on the ground under the trees along a nice long path.Don't get to see that much, trees are pretty much green throughout the year!
So thanks for this shot,Helen! :) I like what you say about becoming half human, half furniture.I'm more aware of staying online too much these days, otherwise I can become that! lol
