Last night we climbed into the loft and fetched down the advent calender. Then put a chocolate in each pocket and tied up 24 little ribbons. Finally, we hung it up, where it always goes, under the hare woodcut in the kitchen!
Now it feels as if Christmas is really on its way. I even managed to get the parcel for Thailand under the magical 2 kg (sorry, Mem, the tea-bags had to be left out to make more room for Jak and Lana's presents!) and took it to the post-office.
I noticed there is a discussion thread today of adding red photos for World Aids Day, so here is my offering. It's certainly red!
I love love love this. It is so darling. Did you make it? I have made several of this type of calendars, but not one like this. I may have to steal the idea.
@omabluebird I'm afraid I didn't make it - I can't even remember where I got it from, it just sort of arrived. But it would be very easy to make for anyone who has the patience - the pouches are made of red felt and the backing is cotton gingham..
What a gorgeous object! Mind you with no kids and we don't eat chocolate they also would be in there year after year! maybe a £1 coin in each one!! Don't you love it when traditions happen...same things, same place....:-)
don't worry about the tea bags, we're rationing our stock to last until Jan 15th. Kids, very excited about christmas. Just trying to work out when will be best to put up the tree and decorations, if too early, then we have too many days of 'is it christmas today?'
Oh yes advent calenders, I've got one similar to this....some where, groan, it's that time to start rummaging under beds and in sheds and cupboards on the hunt for Christmas related stuff! This is really pretty!
