It's Mothers' Day this Sunday, at least for UK mums. The shops in Cambridge are all doing their best to promote their wares as perfect gifts for mum; from the usual chocs and flowers through to books, clothes, handbags, jewellery....but this window display in a High Street optician's was the most surreal, and ever so slightly desperate!
I wear glasses, and I don't know about you, but I don't consider them a luxury! Especially not ones as sensible and business-like as these (even if they are Chanel!) And how would it work anyway? The kids notice that Mum has been walking into things rather a lot lately. I know, let's buy her a pair of glasses for Mother's Day. All we need to do is figure out a way of getting her eyes tested without her knowing about it and it'd be the perfect surprise!
So, just in case my boys are reading this. Stick with the flowers and chocs!
@timandelke oh, I hadn't even thought of that angle! Imagine. Disney pink glasses with Cinderella figures dancing round the edges, or Pokemon glasses or glasses with dinosaurs and Dr Who stickers on!
A great commentary Helen! made me smile as I wear glasses too! Strange the optician would think it would make a good gift. However it makes for an eyecatching photo....pardon the pun! :-)
At this point I'd be grateful for anytihng from Adam - but I reckon Chanel specs are outside his miniscule budget. His friends slept over last night and one has inadvertently left his Mother's Day present in our hallway - box of chocolates and a bag of rocket leaves.....
Considering the cost of some frames I'm not surprised the shop owner is trying whatever he can to sell them. Luckily for me the cheap drugstore readers still work for me.
