Walking from Holkham along the coat path, we passed Cley Mill. This old windmill is now a B & B - it must be a fabulous place to stay, with views out across the reed beds to the sea. The skies at this point were very dramatic - and not long after we were caught in a hail-storm - on with the waterproof trousers - but within half an hour it was sunny again.
For anyone who is not a big PD James reader, the title is from one of her books - which features a converted windmill on the Norfolk coast - and the picture on the cover looks spookily similar to this one!
Amazing place to live & stay ! We might just try that when we visit my sister in Litcham ! I love the smaller windmill on the top too ! very atmospheric !
I love this part of the world - it is so distinctive. Once went here with my bike and remember this beautiful place. Highly recommended. Lovely atmospheric shot with those clouds Helen.
One of our favourite areas!! We have stood many hours on Holkham beach while Chris tried to get his bird photos!! The pub by the windmill is very good....an excellent place to dry off!! You have captured the drama of the books with this scene and those omnious clouds and I like the blurry bit of hedge in the foreground to give it depth. Very nice Helen.
That's a BIG mill compared to Impington. Great moody shot. Don't you find in hard to stay in places once you've read a scary book. Nige and I moved out of a perfectly nice place in Nimes once because we'd watched a Roald Dahl episode where the hotelier turned his guests into pate.
