Bugle by helstor

Bugle

Not a great shot I know, but my camera battery was dying quickly so I fired off a few shots hoping for the best.

I always seem to discover new (to me) plants/flowers in this area. Last year I saw the irises (that Ariel identified for me):

So, can anyone tell me what these ones are?

If you want to see the view from the end of the hike today, have a look at this panorama (scroll to see the whole image) :

such beautiful plants growing wild, how wonderful.

how big is this plant? In the UK, I'd be looking at Bugle as an identification http://www.arkive.org/bugle/ajuga-reptans/image-A12478.html , but knowing you're much further north, is it Alpine Bartsia? which would be 3"-6" high (7-15cm)

Yes, i'd agree with Shanne - Bugle was my first thought although these are more impressive than the ones I am familiar with. Brilliant capture, the blue seems to reflect on to their leaves. Just lovely, lucky you!

@shanne Thanks Shanne, I looked closer on the full size image I had and it is definitely a Bugle. The shape of the leaves and the markings on the petals are identical to the one in the link you posted.

@tishpics Patricia, thank you. Yes I checked and these are Bugles. The shot is actually a bit blurry, but a bit of extra sharpening and rezising it quite small and I think I can get away with it. Now that I know what they are and where they are I'll go back with a fresh battery in my camera and take some new pics.

What beautiful colours - so fresh and striking. Yes I call them Ajuga too... I have some that grow over the edge of the pot /across the ground.

Sorry, don't know what these are, but no doubt they make for a showy display. Spectacular panorama, Helge!
