We left Tampa and proceeded to Davenport, Florida to stay overnight with friends who moved less than a year ago from New Jersey. As they were showing us around their community, we came upon these Sandhill Cranes at the bocce courts.

Retired educator - taught mathematics in high school, went back to graduate school, worked in research labs, and finally went back and taught computer science...
I once ran into some territorial Sand Hill Cranes just south of Yellowstone during an early morning hike. I think they were scarier to come across than the bears I was anticipating.
