Chainsaw Carver at Work

I have posted photos previously of his work on the old white oak. So today I took a photo of him at work.

That is pretty cool, but isn't that harmful to the tree to remove it's bark?

@kkp Thank you Kate, the tree died spring of 2016, rather then chop it down -since it was one of the centerpieces of Saw Mill Park - it was decided if funds could be raised to hire a professional carver to come in and turn it into a monument of the history of the township. The funds were raised.
