I always thought it odd that this farm sets right along the main road in my husband's home town. I'm sure that when it was originally built, it was outside of town. But, now, it's in city limits.
It is a nice looking place. The town where my parents live has a sort of farm area between the two main parts of town. I've always thought that was interesting.
What do we call it, urban sprawl. Glad to see they kept the land free of building. We had a farm just above us in the 60s and now it's a huge housing estate.
Beautiful capture! We have the same near me...several little farms nestled within the busy (small) town. I have posted several pics of the cows we pass on the way to the library and the dairy farm I pass on the way to work. :) Happy New Year!!
I wonder if it's why the road is there?
You get that a lot over here (UK) where the main roads were the road to the manor house back in the day.
The red building is so eye-catching! Happy New Year. :)
@susale@bill_fe@rachelwithey@willowdragon@francoise@debihas27@quietpurplehaze Thanks! Happy New Year! @humphreyhippo Possibly. It's also a very narrow vally and this is the main road through the valley. @luvmynynix Yes, they have cows and horses here. You don't see that much in this area any more. @ceilidh Hahaha! Well, I wouldn't consider this urban sprawl as it is a very small town in a very narrow valley. Town just doesn't have any where else to go! Now where we lived in Indiana was definitely urban sprawl. The town grew up over the last 15 years from farms to a city of nearly 90,000, so did the city next to it. You could not tell where Indianapolis stopped and Fishers or Carmel started. @aponi I prefer the small town usually, as long as it has some amenities, like good restaurants and some shopping. I don't mind the cows at all! LOL!
I'm pretty sure they didn't plan to be in the middle of town either! You will see things juxtaposed like this in the Poconos too. There is a long-time "battle" (in a loose sense of the word) between the builders and locals over the land and when to sell and get out.
