Hobby of a lifetime!

I had three Get Pushed challenges this week and I chose to do two of them instead of choose between them. The second one was to take a photo that my 10-year-old self would have taken. While, I didn't actually make this afghan, I spent a lot of time as a kid crocheting afghans similar to this. My neighbor taught me to crochet when I was 5. She gave me a little ball of yarn and a crochet needle. I'd practice the stitch she taught me and pull it all out and start again. I started out making granny square afghans and moved up to this chevron pattern. If I wasn't crocheting, I was practicing the piano.
I am trying to teach myself how to crochet at the moment. Sadly I never made an effort to learn as a youngster as I used to knit a lot.

@mcsiegle Here's one of my attempts at your challenge. I had to try the second option, as well!

@salza I can knit as well, but not very well. It takes me forever to do a tiny row. LOL! I found crocheting much easier, but I learned it young, so it's second nature to me now.

Terrific shot. It takes a lot of patience to chrochet or knit. Even more so to quilt I think. You obviosly have what it takes

I admire you for having the patience to make crocheted things. I learned to knit -- maybe for 4-H? But only got as far as the beginning project (booties) and a long, narrow scarf.
