I was taking photos of the magnolias in bloom while my son was in taekwondo tonight. I pulled into one of the church parking lots that has a small magnolia tree beside it. There were two other vehicles parked there - a wildlife resources truck and a county car. They both looked at me, so I walked over to make sure there wasn't some wild animal roaming nearby that I needed to be aware of, like a skunk, and they pointed out this hawk up in the magnolia tree. They were observing it because they thought it was injured. After they left, it did try to fly away and only managed to glide to a nearby yard, maybe 20 yards away. Definitly injured. We don't see big hawks like this that often, not in town any way. The game warden thought it was red tail hawk, but since it was partially hidden by the magnolia leaves, it was hard to tell exactly.
